Tryin to figure on which one of these cartridges is best for stopping the threat immediately. Any input? What do you guys think? Haven't heard much about the 10mm, so what's the deal with it?

Out of those choices,I honestly have to say whichever one you can shoot the best. With good defense loads in any of them you won't find yourself outgunned in any less than desirable "social" situations.

It is better to hit with a .22 then to miss with a .45.

Calibers listed are all good calibers. Some have deeper penetration than others.
Shot placement is the main factor in stopping a situation.

I have a 10mm and like it. Trajectory is flatter than the .45 with more foot-lbs energy using comparable bullets. But, at most distances where a handgun is normally used, trajectory does not mean much.

Everytime I see 10mm i get happy . my glock 20 outta arrive tomorrow So the ballistics on a fullpower 10mm rd are a touch under 44 magnum believe it or not so the difference may come down to stopping the threat vs the threat flying through the air and dead before he / she lands imho

All of those cartridges have sufficient energy and stopping power. All of them in the right gun being used by the right shooter would work quite nicely for providing a tool of self-defense. The key is being familiar, comfortable and proficient with the gun being used.

Stopping power in all those will be fine, provided good hits are achieved.
For me, ammo cost & availability would be larger considerations, along with the actual gun itself.

I Agree...! I was originally going to get a 10mm, but the ammo is far less available than .45 ammo.I want to keep my ammo the same as the new back up (Glock 30).

.45 or .40 are far more common. My first choice in a handgun for hd is .357 mag 125 gr jhp ( still the gold standard for stopping power in a 4 or 6 inch barrel). For everyday carry I carry a Glock 27, can't go wrong with 9-40s&w rounds.

All are good rounds & shot placement is the key. As far as "stopping power" in a handgun, that is a hollywood myth. I seen medical reports which state that a killing heart or lung shot may not stop a person because they will still have 15 seconds oxygen available to their brain. In 15 seconds, the bad guy's reflexes can kill you.

The one shot stop can be attained by destroying the part of the brain which is the 'motor center'. If I remember correctly, that means hitting them between their nose & their upper lip.
