Default State by state CCL requirements?

Does anyone know of a list or size by side chart showing what each different state has for qualifying for CCL/permit?

I'd be curious to see and compare.

If you dig deep enough, there should be a tool for what you need.

There's an iPhone app called Legal Heat that does a basic lineup of CC friendliness by state.

In wisconsin you need prior military service that involved handguns, an expired or current ccw from another state, or take the state approved gun safety/ccw course which is a couple hours. Law maker intent was to ensure that folks carrying had at some point been taught the basics of carrying, loading, and unloading a handgun.

Cost of the permit here is 37$ with a to be determined ammount not to exceed 12$ for renewel every five years. Costs are to cover only the administration of the program. Fees for the ccw class is set by the person teaching it and runs from free to as much as 150$ that ive seen depending on who is teaching it. If you hunt around there is always some business or church that's running a free ccw course. Many gunshops around here off free ccw class with purchase of a handgun.

Its hardly a hurdle. Taking the wisconsin class is something a responsible person would do especially the free ones

There's also an iPhone app called "CCW" with a companion app called "Posted." Both are excellent, particularly if you travel state to state. CCW shows reciprocity, the states that recognize your permits, prohibited areas, whether you have a duty to inform LEOs, open carry rules, etc. I highly recommend taking a look at this app.

IF I remember correctly a Hunter Safety Certification is also considered valid firearms training to obtain your CCL in WI. I just mailed 'em a copy of my FL permit.

Now that I live in GA, pay your money and pass the BG check and your GTG. Want to buy a gun in GA, make the deal, fill out forms, show valid CCL, pay the LGS, take gun home.

Crazy, in Oregon it was either 1 or 2 hour session of the certified instructor talking about legalities and what not to do, but no guns were involved, no training of any value whatsoever. Simple common sense and how to protect yourself from the cops should you ever have to defend yourself from a BG.

Part of me is glad it was so easy, but part of me strongly wishes it took more because I could see some really irresponsible tards caring around guns with zero practice or proof they give a shietle about anyone else.
