It sounds like you are looking for compact and light. Quite a few 9mm handguns out there in that range. I know what you mean by the Glocks not fitting your hand. The only Glock that fits my hand is the G36 which is a single stack 45 ACP that carries 6+1 and weighs 27 oz with 7-230 grain rounds on board. It is a handful when you get down to the last couple of rounds. I have and highly recommend a Ruger SR9c although it is not may main carry. I have and carry most my Sig P238 with 7 round mags (17.5 oz). Sig now has their P938 which is single action 9mm of the 1911 pattern. It is just slightly longer and heavier than the P238 but it is a little pricey at $700-$800. The P938 was not available when I bought the P238 or I would have bought it instead. The Ruger is also available in 40 S&W at the same size with both running about $400. The SR9c weighs in at 28 oz loaded with 10+1.
In revolvers, look at the Ruger SP101 in 357 or one of the J Frames if 38 spl is OK. A loaded alloy or polymer J Frame size revolver will weigh about 16 0z.
