Default So one of my CC guns is a Taurus PT-22 and.....

I bought a bulk walmart box of rem golden bullets.... JUNK!!! the lead in almost everyone one spun around in the shell. The one i checked in the barrel? well i pulled that one out to see if it spun too , not only did it spin but i could shake the round by the rim and watch the lead gigle from side to side.

So I brought them back just now and got CCI 40gr mini mags bout 400 rds.

my question is. the hollow point CCI MM were 36 gr the standard lead was 40 gr was i right in getting the 40? is there even a tactical advantage to having HP in a 2 3/4 " BBL pocket pistol?

No opinions on tactical advantage of a hollow point over standard rnd in a pocket pistol CC setting?

I would probably use the solid 40 grain in a 22 protection pistol just to try to get more penetration and if you thouht the remington bulk was bad the winchester bulk is even worse. The bullets were misshapen and some rounds wouldnt even feed in my semi auto 22s

wow i almost got a winchester bulk but at the last second I thought. meh Rather have better ammo than more ammo ....

So in your or anyones opinion do you believe its better to penetrate deeper than fragment the rnd in Self defense situation?

Well my thought was just in case they are wearing heavy clothes, jacket, etc it will pass through them. I know alot of people will say to step to bigger calibur but if you like the gun and feel comfortable i think it will be good.

Penetration is of up most importance. If the bullet expands but stays near the surface it won't do much to deter the attack. Do understand that while a .22 is as likely to kill as anything else it is usually pretty slow at doing it. While a 22 is better than nothing, it's unlike to stop an assailant very quickly, which is what you want.

22 for carry- FAIL, regardless of ammo.

And Walmart corporate policy is no ammo returns for any reason.
