It's not about being picky, it's about what you shoot better. Personally I shoot SA better than DA. It sounds as though you've not experienced any of the classic plastic over-produced and over-hyped semiautos like the Rugers Elsies, Keltecs, etc. Lucky you!

I say get a Ruger SR9c or a commander 1911 as you mention.

I would have the say the pistol i have liked the most so far was a SAO sticker fired gun. And I did like the trigger on the rock island 1911 i shot. So i guess in leaning towards a SAO W/ a manual safety
