Smith & Wesson 637
I am considering a Smith & Wesson 637 revolver for concealed carry. I would like some imput from anyone that uses this weapon. It seems like a well made easily concealable gun.

S&W J frames are great concealed carry weapons, I woldn't choose one with an exposed hammer, though. I'd go for one of the Centennial models, like the 642.
In a self defense situation you'll be firing double action, and the hammer spur can snag on clothes when you try to draw your gun. If you must have the option of firing single action, then take a look at some of the Bodyguard models.

Another possibility to look at is the Ruger LCR. It's an ultra-lite .38 SPL +P conceal carry revolver.

I am not real convinced with the lcr. I would wait a while and see how it holds up. New concepts always have "growing pains".

I have a 637. It is my main carry gun. I just drop it in my trousers pocket. I have developed a method to overcome the hammer snagging problem. When I grasp the gun I lay my thumb on top of the hammer. That keeps the hammer from snagging if I actually have to pull the gun.
I do have a couple of pairs of pants that are tighter that cause the 637 to print. In those cases I carry my LCP.

The LCR is nice, but I have read more than a few tech comparisons with the smiths and ruger. I also just viewed an online comparison. The LCR and J-frames are very close in quality and recoil. The 442 smith did win out in the competition. I have had a 442 for almost two years. Its my American Express card. I never leave home without it. Good Luck with whatever decision you make. You cant go wrong with either. If you are anything like me, you would like more firepower than a snubbie .38, but if you dont carry it every day, its useless. I dont even know its there.

IM gona have to toss in another vote for the LCR.. I too was torn between the Smith and the Ruger. I am very pleased with the performance of the Ruger and its a very comfortable carry weapon.

Try to stay away from CCW belly guns with exposed hammers.
I too will throw the Ruger Elsie Ahrrr in this mix. Great light weight snubby, good caliber for CQB, 1K rounds w/o an issue.
