Signed Up For CCP Class
My wife & I signed Up For CCP Class today. Class is on Saturday the 16th.
I had a permit in another state over 30 years ago (yep, I am an old geezer) I can pass, knock on wood, but I am a little worried about my wife. She has a pretty thin experience level shooting, and all the hand guns around here are mine, smallest gun I have is a Smith & Wesson 690? in 9mm. Thinking about taking her to the range tomorrow to get her a little time in. Should I get her a gun of her own, before the class? What caliber? .22? |
She can probably rent one at the class. Usually about $10.

Unless you're wanting to buy her one anyway. In which case yes, I'd suggest a 22, 25, or 32 or large frame 380, like Bersa Thunder. |
When me and my wife took our class they provided a .22 for range use or I could bring my own. But why would I waste my ammo when I could use theirs.

38 wheel gun simple to operate basic simple easy to carry on person or purse.I say get her her own gun it will make this all the more real and excieting for her and also make her feel included a part of a team with you. Also something she can learn to clean easy and teach her how to take care of it.Later on she can graduate to an semi-auto as she learns more from you and further classes you both should take. Take her down to the range try some out and get her set up with her own.Its important to qualify with something you will use and not just to pass the test. She can handle a 38.

Which state are you in? How much for the class? Here in Missouri it ranges from $75 to $150 for the class, then another $100 for the state police...then a trip to the DMV for your CCW card. I"ve got a few guns cheaper than that.
