In Texas, you can legally have a handgun in your vehicle. We also have the "Castle Doctrine". An RV/Travel trailer is considered a habitation when hooked up to utilities (water, electric, and or sewer) so in the camp ground, you are in your own home.

Personally, I would avoid travel to unfriendly states. Perhaps a letter/e-mail to the Good Sam Club in those states informing them of your intention to NOT visit their Draconian State.

Congrats on your retirement Pat!

I would vote for the Red Ryder! LOL In all seriousness I would tend to agree with c3. I would go for a round that will stop an attacker or intruder.

For me protection in the RV starts with a good alarm system.

Then a four cell Maglight next to the door.

Then the CCW. If they are in the RV I better be able to hit the ten ring. It's a good size RV but still less then the 21 feet I point shoot in.

Somtimes having a over active alarm system can be a pain in the azz.

This will be my alarm system. That is why I have a CCW!

Beats spending your retirement in a dirt nap!

In close quarters, there is no better protection than a good snub-nose!

If I had a RV my handgun of choice would be my Ruger LCR loaded with GLASER SAFETY SLUGS Blue 38 SPECIAL. (NOT silver)

Get her dirty, then clean her so she starts to respect you. When her trust is complete, she will serve you well for a lifetime!

Hey Lon, didn’t we do a test on the 45 Glasers? And if I'm correct they inflicted a hell of a lot of damage.

Thanks for the info! They look very impressive.I have a 642 that would love to hold those in it's belly. I may even order 6 of the .380s just to see if my LCP will handle them also.

I've been looking through which states allow what, and it looks like I will have to install a hidden safe just to drive through some states! It's a shame that you can't travel the U.S. openly without being able to protect yourself.

I will be writing the Good Sam Club before I leave.
