Rain, lawn sprinklers, kids with water pistols...
You are carrying (open or concealed) and get caught in wet weather of some kind. You and your gun get a little wet. Besides the obvious (dry off ASAP) what should be done to handle this situation? How long after exposure do you need to break the gun down and clean/relube thoroughly? What special details do you need to consider while the gun is wet? Shooting in the rain? Is there any impact on leather parts of a holster?

Did no one tell you? Guns are all water soluble. Get one wet, it melts away like the Wicked Witch when Dorothy hit her with a bucket of water.
Proof- the horrible boating accident several of us were in, where all of our guns went overboard, and dissolved. 
To give you a serious answer- dry your pistol when you can. It is NOT a panic situation. Shooting in the rain worked last time I was in the Monsoon season in SE Asia. No real effect unless you are shooting at several hundred meters. Which generally, you can't SEE several hundred meters in heavy rain.
Got a light coat of oil on your pistol? Stainless or polymer- even less of a problem. Holster? wipe it off. If it has been REALLY wet, remove gun, wipe holster, dry in warm moving air (NOT A BLOW DRYER! TOO HOT!)

Most do "weather" they're armed or not

Funny and true.
I rarely see people just hang out in the rain unless their job requires it.
My mama said "even a chicken's got the sense to get in outta the rain."
If your required to be out in it, for a job, or because you are out in the boonies, C3's advice holds. Just dry out when you can.

C3, have you sought therapy to get over the boating accident? It seems to be on your mind a lot. I know you lost more guns than most but you need to move on. I was fortunate to join the forum just as all you guys were swimming to shore. Not that I would have gotten on a boat with all you guys in the first place.

Well, I believe the rifles you had in the Monsoon season where the kind you could drag through the mud, drop in the sand and they'd still shoot. Right?

I like the title here, Balota. If you're caught getting wet from a lawn sprinkler I know it's not your lawn getting watered. ROFL

Just buy a Glock. That way even if you're in a sandstorm, crawling through mud, and jump into a cyclone it will fire perfect every time without any action on your part. 1911, pocket lint will cause FTF haha..

I clean my carry guns weekly regardless of weather.
If I get into wet weather, or sweat a lot I will generally do a field strip and light oil wipe down before putting them away.
I just moved from Georgia to Washington (the rainy one, not the political cess pool). So, My guns have experienced water and sweat exposure with no long term problems. I mostly do synthetic holsters partly for the reduced worry about exposure to moisture.
