You've gotten some well-meant, but innaccurate answers here about Texas CHL laws. You'd be much better off getting on the Texas DPS website, and downloading form LS-16 yourself.

You must know your state law and avoid those places so listed. A wise person will also avoid any implication that they are out looking for a fight. Avoid known trouble spots or any location or situation a resonable person would know about.

Avoid the places listed as not legal in your state. Avoid places where a average reasonable person of your community would expect trouble. Avoid places or times where it is just not smart to be there. Avoid obvious trouble spots, such as late night ATM's, etc. A mindset of trouble avoidance is the best.

In response to the signs banning the carry of a CW if its not mandated by law those establishment do not and will not ever receive my business. To be a private party attempting to limit my constitutional rights is unexceptable. Not to mention not well thought out, who do you want in your store if its being robbed? Someone who can stop them? I sure would. There is always another store willing to not discriminate against you for exercising your rights as an American.

In TX, you can most anywhere. Except Court, executions, places where a high school or college sporting event is taking place, or places where they get 51% or more of their profits from the sale of alcohol, or a church, or places where betting is taking place like a dog track.

Is conceal carry really needed? I can see keeping a pistol in the trunk. Just curious.

if you need it and can't get to it. b/c its in your trunk....then CCW IS needed!

I have stopped carrying in an ankle holster b/c of a situation that almost developed two weeks ago...

If you need a gun NOW. and dont have it, how are you going to get said gun and use it to defend yourself?

Glen, I'm sorry but an armed perp won't give you time to go to your car, he's just gonna shoot you where you stand.

One reason why we have fanny packs, unless the resort intervenes with it's own rules.
