Places to Avoid while Carrying?

I am inexperienced in concealed carrying and if I were to carry a firearm, what sort of establishments and places should I not bring it into? I am unaware of the laws regarding this but I live in Texas.

Not sure about Texas..In nearby NM, the one's I'm familiar with are:
Federal buildings, like a Post Office, Court House, etc..
Schools & University Grounds.
Establishments that sell liquor by the drink....
I've heard that some establishments might post a sign that CC is prohibited in their business...To be honest, I've never seen one....
I'm sure there are others, maybe another poster can name some more...

Ditto for MN, except for carrying in bars. In MN you can carry in bars as long as you aren't drinking heavily. You're allowed .04 BAC when carrying. Evidently some MN legislator wanted to be able to have a drink with dinner and still be able to carry so they wrote that part into the law.

Here in MN there are a lot of places that post signs on their doors banning guns. It is only a $25 fine if you get caught, so it wouldn't deter me from entering if I wanted to. I'd much rather keep my weapon concealed and violate their gun ban than turn around and return to my car and reveal my weapon to some thief as I put it in my car and leave it there.

In Texas in short and without details:

No schools
No Courts
No polling places while elections are going on
No place making more than 51% of it's profit from alcohol sales, they must post a 51% sign
No sporting events
Any place with the 30.06 posting
Hospitals and Nursing homes are off limits if posted with a 51% sign without the 51% and/or the 30.06 posting if my memory is correct.

Feel free to add or delete from my list it was quickly done. FWIW if/when you took/take your CHL class they will cover this. If you don't plan on getting a CHL then well it wouldn't really matter if you did or didn't follow the laws as you could get popped with UCW anywhere, not chastising you for not getting or having a CHL at all. To each his own and I can certainly understand not wanting to get one or feeling like you should have to.

Nudist colonies!:D

Sorry....

You should have got a paper or something that told you where and not you can carry when you got your cwp. Also at the class you take, you should have been informed.

Gun Looney,Just where do you carry at your colony'?:o

That's where the term "deep concealment" comes from....

Having just completed the CHL class on Saturday, (two days ago), I can say that the info you seek is indeed given during the class in Texas as Etho pointed out. The listing in his post pretty much tells it all. I recommend taking the CHL class as soon as possible if you are considering carrying.
