Default New CC gun advice

Hey guys, I am looking for a new gun for conceal carry. I currently carry a Kahr CW9 that I have been having issues with and I don't trust this gun anymore. My other gun is a Sig P229 .40. A great gun but a little heavy. The reason its heavy is that I injured my back some time back and heavy guns bother me. I do have a good gun belt to help, but it still causes pain after a while. What I am looking for is a single stack 9 mm. DOA I don't want any safety on it. I don't want anything smaller than my CW9. I would love a 1911 but that is to heavy for me. As far as budget, I want to keep it under $600 if possible. If you could recommend something that I could go look at or try to find at a range to rent, I would really appreciate it.

You may want to take a look at the
M&P Shield, Beretta Nano, the new Springfield
XDs in 9mm and the Walther PPS. I personally like the Ruger LC9 but it have a manual safety and a magazine disconect that i think you will not like. Other than that it has been very reliable for me. I hope i help you or at least give you a starting point in your search for the adequate CCW for you!

You don't want a safety but you're ok with a 1911?

Anyway, perfect gun for you might be a used Sig P938. Single stacked, 9mm, basically a small 1911, 17.5 ounces. I bet you can find a good used one for less than $600.

Or a STI Escort at 22.8 ounces. Or a Colt Defender at 22.5 ounces. Those two are going to prolly run you $700-800 though, for a used one, if I had to guess.

Al are single stacked 9mms. They have 6, 7, and 8 round capacities, respectively.

I could be wrong, but that's the info I'm getting from genitron.com

Used 938's are scarce as hen's teeth. But I agree it would be a good choice.

Colt New Agent for +/- $900.

Yea, that sounds funny. I always wanted a 1911 but more for a range gun not a cc gun.

I'll have to look at the P938, I don't think I've ever seen one. Thanks for the responses guys.

I was looking at some XD's but all the ones I saw were double stacked mags. Is there a single stack one?

What kind of issues? A good gun shop can take care of most issues, and will be a hell of a lot cheaper than buying a new gun. I carry a Bodyguard, and I would recomment it to anyone, but it's a .380 and you said you wanted at least a 9mm. Sell the Kahr if you don't like it....but they are well made (except for the slides) and have a great reputation.
whichgun.com....try there.

XDs, s = single stack, 9 mm & 45 ACP available.

Here is info on the 938 Extreme. Definitely worth a look, they have other package options.

I love my Nano, very reliable, very easy to sight in and the recoil is quite manageable for such a small pistol.
Though I do love the looks of the XDs in 9 and .45, I'm not going to spit for one. I want to get proficient with the ONE pistol I own for carry.
