In Nevada, to own a handgun you have to be at least 21. For rifles, yes you only have to be at least 18. I think OP got himself confused with the current state laws.

You can be over the age of 18 to have a handgun here in Oklahoma, you just can't purchase it from an FFL dealer but can from private party or it may be gifted to you if over the age of 18. Here's a link I found about it, and it goes along what I was taught and learned while selling guns for academy sports & outdoors

That reflects my understanding of the Federal law and MS law, but i am not certain of other states limitations. I know on the MS car carry section the age is specified as 18+ not 21+. Of course, i didn't know that when Granny traded me that snubby .38 that lived in my bug when i was 15.

It shall not be a violation of this section for any person over the age of eighteen(18) years to carry a firearm or deadly weapon concealed in whole or in part within the confines of his own home or his place of business, or any real property associated with his home or business or within any motor vehicle from the MS highway patrol website http://www.dps.state.ms.us/firearms/firearms-permit-unit/%c2%a7-97-37-1-deadly-weapons-carrying-while-concealed-use-or-attempt-to-use-penalties/ Actually, if you read on, a 15 year old would be legal with a concealed firearm IF on the way to target shoot, hunt, etc.

The naysayers have just been misled by liberal media types.

You really need to look at your laws again there folks before you state illegalities. Nevada clearly states. 21 to retail purchase a handgun. 18 to own one through Private party or gifting by family or legal guardian. 18 to open carry. 21 to conceal carry with premit. I am therefore in all my rights to do what i did and will continue to do untill i can obtain my CCW.
