Is it too late to back out? Come to a more gun-friendly state instead, like Florida or Texas.

Thanks again, everyone.

Actually I lived up in Buffalo for 10 years so I'm familiar. My wife still has family up there. Actually I really enjoyed it there - it was perfect: big city, small town mentality. Very livable. Great food and jazz scene, too.
(And no sweat, I'm not a Bills fan. That's football, right?)

You can't legally bring in your pistols to NY without a NY CCW. The laws vary by county and my county is very friendly, Wayne County.. It took my wife exactly 10 days from purchase to carrying/firing her pistol. This was back in 2008. My son just got his pistol permit, but now you have to show a legitimate reason for CCW. He has a target/hunting permit. No big deal.

My son goes to school in NY so I stopped at a local wally world to buy some stuff for his dorm room. Checked sporting goods and saw a wall of 9 and 40 ammo at the right prices I had never seen in our PA stores.

Asked to buy some and was asked if I had my permit to own a pistol in NY.
Left with no ammo.

Very true.. You must have a NYS pistol permit to buy ammo for a pistol, the exception being .22 ammo.

I see you're in Lockport... That question comes up regularly. Have you tried to buy ammo??
