Default M&P shield 40 vs XDs 45

Thoughts comparing these 2 very popular ccws? I've seen many YouTube videos but was curious of other's point of view. I like the size and capabilities of both from what I have seen.

Thoughts?

My take is that Springfield has not impressed me with their XD line. I had a XD .45 which I just recently sold, it just wasn't for me, I never could get accurate enough with it to justify owning it. Now it very well could have been me, or the XD not fitting my grip and technique well but regardless I always left the range frustrated with it.

Now on the other hand my daily CCW is the M&P Shield .40, and I love that gun, I'm way more accurate with it, than I ever was with my full size XD .45, which In my opinion shouldn't be.

Take it for what it's worth but my money is in the Shield. But different stroke for different folks.

And just to be honest the only place I've seen that Springfield ccw .45 was in a recent American Rifleman, so I have no first hand account with that pocket .45 if that's the model your speaking about.

I'd go XDs simply because i have a un-explainable distaste for S&W simi-autos--
But then again i don't care for the XDs either--(love the XD tho)
Not much help huh?

Pick a cm/pm or cw/p kahr and have what ever caliber you want. All are smaller and lighter than the shield and the XDs??!!. I like the m&p line after apex upgrades, not a xd guy.

I have the XDs and it is a great pistol for CC. Allot of power in that little package and it shoots great. Good luck to you.

@FishinLuke I too do not like the XD line. The XD-s and XD-m line showever are a huge upgrade. Specifically in trigger pull and barrel accuracy. I have the XDs in 45 and love it

That's interesting I have no experience with their newer lines, maybe down the road when my amnesia kicks in from my frustrations with my old XD, I'll try one of those.

I like the S&W. Very good line, but I don't like a safety on my cc. It is just another step on a draw that WILL slow you down from a concealed draw. Just my thoughts!! My duty carry is a glock. And my cc is a Kahr cm9.
