That's what jtj said. The 9 is heavier because of the barrel. There is some really good info here, thanks guys. I'm going to give some consideration to the kahr. Right now it is meeting all my requirements where I was really concerned with the weight of the XDs.

Look again at the cw kahr . You do have a choice of 9mm, 40sw and 45. The 45 has a stlightly longer trigger reach do the the cartidge lengh designed into the grip and the frame is lightly wider than the 9 and 40. All are slightly shorter than the sheild or xd-s and smoother lines over all. Weights run from 17.4 oz for the 9mm to 21.8 oz for the 45. The 45 can use some 1911 mags too.

I never did understamd why a perosn can'e master any trigger if its smooth. DA , SA or a something inbrtween . Its just ahead game.

A Kahr CM9 costs LESS than every single one of your other options. So do you mean that Kahr is too inexpensive?

Perhaps you didn't realize that the CM9 is about $200 less expensive than a PM9. You do have to buy a 2nd magazine, but then it puts the price in the exact same range as the other 4 on your list.

I just didn't want you to reject a gun for a reason that doesn't exist.

But he was mentioning the CW9, not CM9. Have you shot a CW? The two are about as similar as a Sig P238 and a Sig P250.

I've heard almost exclusively good things about the CM9 (although it might be too small for the OP). The CW9 doesn't get such hot reviews. It was Kahr's first attempt at a more affordable gun. The trigger doesn't really lend itself toward speed or accuracy in my experience.

Beware of the larger caliber kahr cw's. I had one and the recoil was to much for the polymer frame and bent 2, not just one, but TWO guide rods. The cw is by far the cheapest of the kahr lineup but also the most poorly made. You can get the xds or the shield an you know your not bottom feeding.
