Here in Texas, you can't use anything smaller than .38 calibur for CHL class.

When I got my CHL, we did our target qualifying first. That way if you fail it, you wouldn't waist the next 9 hours on a lecture that wouldn't matter.

To my surprise, there were actually people that failed the shooting test... go figure! Most shooters could throw rocks and get a perfect score. We shot a total of 50 rounds whereby 85% of the score is made at 3 yards & 7 yards... and the remainder at 15 yards. IF someone can hit the target at 3 & 7 yards, they could totally miss at 15 yards and PASS!

I just can't imagine how someone could possibly fail..........

Got it done!! I used the Beretta 92f 9mm.

The class started at 9:30am and my part was over at 3:45. We went over different scenario's, made sure everyone understood what type situations are legal for shooting while ccw.

Basically, I got this out of it:

1. AOJ. Make sure there is Ability, Opportunity, and Jeopardy present before shooting. If all three aren't present it may not be a legal shoot in any situation, even in the home.

2. Duty to inform a police officer if you are asked for identification.

3. Do not show your firearm, ever, unless you are drawing to shoot in public while ccw.

There was alot more to it, but most of it seemed pretty much common sense to me.

We fired a total of 25rds on the range. 3,5,and 7yards with one hand then two. We were firing at a regular sheet of paper. Pretty much everyone hit the paper I think and some people DID use their .22's. Saw some nice 1911's and a prestine Browning Hi-Power out of 27 people in the class too!

It was a pretty boring ordeal, but I'm all set to send off my paperwork now.

Since I qualified with an automatic I can carry revolvers or automatics and as many as I want. If I would have qualified with a revolver I would only be allowed to carry revolvers. I can carry as many guna as I feel comfortable with. For me it will most likely just be one.

here you have to qualify with the actuall guns you are going to have on your permit, if i were to get caught carrying a gun that was not on my permit they could arrest me and revoke my permit.
