The EMF field from a computer is about as big as a 120w lightbulb.

First off, you have a tv on and you here people sounds!! Tv is on. And the dog barks? Simple bark or all out gettum sounds. You now need to have a firend ,a no maybe someone the dog does not know come by and see how your dog reacts to a person just walking into your house. I have had a dog bark at a certain tv commercial before. You could also buy some door alarms.http://www.owndefense.com/door-stop-alarm.html If you can't swing a full security system. Depending on dog size to your first floor can be set up with just a couple motion detectors can cover a main floor.
I also would carry a handgun and have a light but would tend to not use it and get to where I have a best view from a dark spot and call the cops.

Depends on the computer and how sensitive he is. Personaly i get uneasy if i get behind a computer. But, the sensitivity is diffrent from person to person.

I always take the " noise " sound as a chance to clear my home room by room. Watch corners, line of sight, be aware of backstop, and act as if someone may be in the house.

THEN I calm down.... Lol

Maybe this was just in my CCP class, but the instructor gave us these instructions. Loudly load your gun. Keep a tactical flashlight on your gun. Solves both problems. If it is an intruder they will leave if they hear the gun load. I you are worried about accidentally shooting someone, carry the light. You blind them before they can react.

My take is like this.

The locks on my house protect them

from me, not the other way around.

It's all about selfless public service...
