From everything of read where carry laws are a bit more relaxed (but still required to prove proficiency, background checks, etc) incidents of good guy bad guy shootings are way down from those states with rigid carry laws. If anyone of the teachers that tried to stop the shooter was armed the outcome would most likely have been much less deadly. Mayor Bloomberg came out against armed police in schools but he hasn't had his security detail disarm. Is his life worth more than any if the Ct children's? My solution would be armed police until school employees who want to carry concealed and are trained to do so can take over.
Most of the ugly incidents lately have been in locations where firearms are prohibited, schools, movie theaters and mall. Most of these shooters appear to be picking locations where resistance will be minimal. Changing those dynamics may be a solution.
