870 express with wood furniture. If you ever stand trial for defending yourself, it looks better if you used ol grandpas duck gun.

I have a mossberg 500 with a 19 inch barrel and a pistol grip. I used to keep it in my closet behind my suits. But my gandson is only 2 years old. He has been coming over a lot lately. It is in the safe now. But I always have a pistol up high in a gun safe in my closet. And I am also almost always packing on my person. Whether or not there are children in the home should also affect your choice.

I have no idea what that comment means, but it does remind me that a dog would actually be the 1st component of any HD plan.

A Remington 870 or Mossberg shotgun fit your price range if you can only afford one firearm. I agree with Willfully Armed regarding racking the slide. If Mr. Bad Guy's in the house, he doesn't have any fear or respect for you. He doesn't think you'll shoot and if you do, you'll miss. Ever hear of the 21 foot rule? Mr. BG doesn't need any more of an advantage than he's already got. He knows what he's gonna do and has likely had lots of practice. I keep my 870 cocked & locked. The only sound will be the safety clicking off. I've also left the wood stock on, in case I need a close quarter option. The shotty and whatever CC handgun I'm carrying that day are on/by the nightstand in quick arm's reach, both locked & loaded.

Does anyone know how much it would cost for two high points in 380 for me and my wife? I chose 380 because I literally weigh in at 125 and a 9mm kicks a little too much I know penetration is not the best but I want something I won't struggle with to defend my family. I know hi points are still in production and come new with warranty. Any first hand exp posts would help as well. Thank you guys for the help

Not sure of the exact price, but you can check their website. A quick google search will turn it up.
