The "diamond plate" finish is really just very shallow gouges machined into the slide instead of raised metal like true diamond tread plate. You can feel them when you run your finger over the side of the slide but not much. I'm pretty sure my grips are aluminum though. The buds like posted above says those are plastic.

The 239 I looked at yesterday had the diamond plate finish on the slide. I'm not usually big on "pretty" guns, but that finish was incredible! The one I buy will probably be the nitron, but I'm very tempted by that pretty slide. What can I say? I like shiny things.
My nightstand/ range pistol...a nitron P229 SCT in .40 S&W.

What cal is that and how many rounds does it hold? The magazine extension looks strangely out of proportion.

Might be the pic angle...here's a couple different photo. 14+1 and .40 caliber.

It is as tall as it is long....but it will take standard P229 mags if needed.

My 229 is 9mm so the extended mag just looks different. Mine are 15 rounds without an extension.

Update: I finally got what I was looking for. Picked up a Sig P239 .40 at the gun show yesterday. I put 100 rounds through it that afternoon and was blown away by the accuracy. The steel frame absorbs quite a bit of the recoil, and after wasting a couple mags getting used to the gun, I was making one ragged hole at 10 yards with cheap ammo. I moved out to 25 yards and, while I can't claim one hole, it was still a very solid performer. The double action pull could be a little smoother, but I'm going to give it another couple boxes of ammo before I complain. I also picked up a .40 snap cap to practice my trigger pull at home. All and all I am very pleased with this gun. I am considering a set of crimson trace grips for it, since it will be my carry gun and I like the idea of anything that makes accurate shot placement easier in a self defense situation. I already have my eye on my next gun...either a remmy 700 in a small/fast caliber to compliment my .308, or an AR build.

My trigger was very nice on my 229 out of the box but after about 500 rounds it is great. Very smooth pull and a nice crisp break. There is some good info online about sig lubrication that I found very helpful.

leverlover, if you decide you want some Hogues for that pistol, as many people like them on that gun...let me know I have a set that have been used once. I'll sell them at a discount. And congrats! That's the gold standard in medium framed CCW pistols.

I'm not certain but it seems like some people might be calling the p 939 the p 239. I have carried the p 238 for the last 8 months. I retired it recently for the p 939 because it is 9 mm in only slightly larger size. They are very similar pistols so I chose 9 mm. I might make p 238 my BUG when I really want to travel light.

I typically carry Kimber ultra raptor (.45) on my hip (iwb) and p 939 in front pocket in pocket holster.
