Picked one up last week. S&W got the message regarding earlier model M&P's and the trigger issue. The trigger is solid, the gun very well mannered, and I was shredding the black on the second magazine. Aside to leverlover, if you know what you want, get it. If you're open to suggestion, I think you'd be happy with a Shield. The only drawback is they're hard to get just now.

I looked for the S&W shield at the local gun show this weekend. I really wanted to see one. I wanted to see the shield or the new Springfield xds. I didn't see any but I do enjoy my new p238 Sig Sauer that I picked up. I have looked at those for some time. The price is a little more then most, but do you want to put a price on your life?

Went to the 1500 gun show here in indiana, guy i went with bought a m&p sheild in 9mm. He has a sig 239. We spent this morning shooting all of our guns. I do like the sig but really like the sheild handeled great for me the extened grip was a must. But overall was impressed, cycled everthing just fine except the 115 turcated lead, it was a little sticky with these the action was slow. Other than that would like to have either the 239 is in 40 and the shield in 9 would like to see them the other way around.

I don't know where the push for the M&P Shield is coming from. It's a striker-fired DAO style firing system. The OP clearly states he wants suggestions for a DA/SA pistol with decocker. The OP does not strike me as a novice....he impresses me as someone who knows what he wants....just wants ideas on brands/models.

Thank you, Sonic. I didn't want to be rude, but that is exactly what I was thinking. I already have a compact striker fired .45. Now i want something different.
The 239 I looked at yesterday had the diamond plate finish on the slide. I'm not usually big on "pretty" guns, but that finish was incredible! The one I buy will probably be the nitron, but I'm very tempted by that pretty slide. What can I say? I like shiny things.

Oh, no. I think you misunderstand. I had one on layaway at Bud's and I picked it up Friday.

I'm very happy with it thus far and I haven't shot it yet. I can't wait to though. I think it might sell my PM9.

I have the diamond plate p229 and I love I was a little apprehensive about the finish when I ordered it from buds but I knew I wanted a p229 and the diamond plate one was a bit cheaper than the standard version. I like it a lot. The diamond plate finish is not obnoxious which is what I was worried about.

I've never seen the Diamond Plate Finish up close...but this seems like a very good price whatever flavor a P229 is. http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.php/cPath/28/products_id/79528/Handguns/SIG+Sauer/Sig%20Sauer%20P229%209mm%20Diamond%20Plate/
