I think he meant do some texting of your own. JD posted a link to a thread in the Bunker where several members did some testing of different makes of SD ammo.

Basically, soak newspaper in water and shoot them. Observe penetration and expansion. Shoot at 7 yards.

Winchester Ranger 230 grain (no +p for me), definitely my choice. You can't beat $36 for 50 self-defense rounds when so many other brands are more than $1 per trigger pull.

And you'd have to work really hard to prove they are weaker performers than the Black Talons by the same company!

The pics are from 3 different members and their reports in a Bunker thread. Scubie and Glass have the nice set up. Gatekeeper had the snow and I had the other one.

I wonder if some members will be willing to do a .40 report on different makes of SD ammo. We have the .45 Kings. Maybe it is time for the .40 Kings?

I am in love with HSTs. Why, because they get big and penatrate. My testing of 230gr +p HSTs found them to expand within almost an inch!! .995-.997 was not uncommon and .990+ happened every time with 100% weight retention. I tested them in 9mm as well with similar results. If you want I can dig up the info.

JD kisses his Rangers at night and I kiss my HSTs. I pray I'm never on the business end of either.

Well said, brother. I kiss my Winchester Bonded PDX1's right before I kiss my wife goodnight.
