Update... I finally got him to go shooting with me today. I talked to him a little more about carrying his new firearm without running rounds through it. We went to the range he fired off 100 rounds, really safe shooter so no complaints there. He had a couple issues with it not chambering a round when he was firing and I think thats when he realized carrying a firearm without shooting it first is a dumb idea. I told him what if you actually had to defend yourself and your gun did the same thing? He really didnt know what to say. All in all it was a good range day, got to shoot with someone new to shooting and had a good time. P.s he was shooting a Ruger Sr40.

I can't tell you how many people I know who have purchased guns and did not shoot them until long after a warranty expired only to find out there was an issue and they had to fork out $$ to have it corrected. Good for you in getting him to do a break in.
