Got my new BUG tonite! Ruger LCR. Needed something a little more concealable for warmer weather with lighter clothing than the Kimber SIS Custom I bought a little while back.
After reading and looking around I decided on the LCR. Man that little sucker is light! Couldn't really appreciate how light 14oz was until I actually held one.
The trigger felt a little notchy at first, but a little dry fire practice and it has really smoothed up and is quite nice now.
Looking for a little advice from you LCR owners (Cane, KTM,etc) on carry options.
I bought an Uncle Mikes IWB holster cause thats all they had. Looking for recommendations for a good CC holster.
Bought some 158gr LRN practice ammo and a box of Fed 129gr Hydrashok+P for carry cause thats all they had. Ammo recommendations please? Thanks

Congrats. Some of the guys have installed a ClipDraw. I think Cane has a pic of one on his.

I, personally, use Hornady Critical Defense. They offer it for .38 special and .38 special +P, I believe.

The rounds are light and fairly inexpensive for SD ammo. The +p energy for .38 special almost reaches 9mm.

I have some loaded in my wife's S&W .38 spl +P and some
in my bug (Kahr P380).

I carry mine in an uncle mikes iwb sometimes but mostly in a Bianchi leather on my side.

How do you CC revolver guys carry extra ammo? Speedloaders, loose, strips(the flat shellholders)?

You weren't actually asking me, since I'm an auto guy, buy speedloaders is what I see most often from the revolver guys. If you actually needed to reload in a SD situation, you certainly wouldn't want loose rounds in a pocket. Speed strips are the next possibility, but 2 speed loaders is what I most often read people suggest.

I've also heard it said many times that if you need to reload, it is a VERY bad day!

If you’re like me, this gun will get the most range use just because it’s a blast to shoot. Find some cheap target loads or you will be swiping that debit card way too often.



I got a great deal on a brick of Serb prvi partizan 158 gr LRN that go bang every time, are accurate at PD distance but tend to be a tad dirty. Cleans up well so no problem.

I get my practice + P ammo from Georgia Arms; .38 Special 158gr Lead Semi-Wadcutter Hollow Point +P "NEW" 1000pk good to experience + P recoil. I like to mix up a couple in each cylinder to “surprise” me when they go bang!

For carry I go with the old reliable Cor-Bon + P DPX.

I have of yet to find a speed loader that fits past the fat Hogues. I went with the Bianchi speed strips. Works faster than single round loading. (You can load two rounds at a time.) And they lay flat in your pocket.

As far as holsters, I got an Uncle Mikes but find it bulky only because this is a small, light revolver. I went with the "Clip-Draw" and find it a must with the LCR. Still fits in my pocket when I want to run out to the store or clips to the waistband if I want a belly gun. It's <$20 and has a non-destructive mount. You can't go wrong trying this out.



I am so comfortable with this little guy that when our winter gets here (last two weeks in Jan.) and I carry my Colt, I just may keep Elsie on me as a back-up.

PS When you shake the LCR (loaded or empty) it rattles. This is the transfer bar safety and nothing to worry about. And no, it's not a threat to your stealth carry condition! I had a piss quiver once and not a sound.

Ive been taking scissors to the top of my Uncle Mikes, it IS bulky for the ElsieArr. I will definately have to order a clipdraw if it doesn't interfere with firing grip, and I'll assume it doesn't.
Mine also has the rattles, no biggie- wouldn't have noticed if ya'll hadn't mentioned it.
Thanks for the help and links. I'm purchasing a progressive reloading press in the near future. Just one big swipe of the debit card instead of a lotta little ones and the practice ammo wont be a problem anymore

Hey cane, the rattle you mentioned I don't think is exclusive to the LCR. My wife's SP101 does the same thing. Could it be a Ruger trait?
