I will probably head to the local Sheriffs office upon arrival to look into a non-resident license at first but I'm hoping I can use my Tx license while applying for my Pa license.

Is open-carry permitted? Not really interested in open carry but thought I would not have to be so concerned in the summer if "showing".

Thanks in advance for any insight!
Here in Pa it's called a LTCF (License to Carry Firearms). Open carry is permitted anywhere in the state without a LTCF except in a city with more than a certain number of population. I believe only Pittsburg and Philly meet that criteria. You should be able to get a LTCF within 45 days?, it's rather quick. You won't have to worry about paterning laws, or even informing a LEO if you are carrying if you get stopped in the car, and you can carry just about anywhere. We don't have any of those silly "no restaurant carry" laws here. All in all, Pa is a good place to exercize your gun rights. A good resource is Pennsylvania Firearm Owners Association, a local state firearms owners organization. You questions could be more adequately answered there. Glad to have you moving to Pa. What town are you moving to?

Good for you Tango and congratulations!

@Ruger44 - Seven Valleys. Just south of York and close to the Maryland line. I'll be working in Maryland but we aren't ready to give up our right to carry so it was either move to Va, W Va, or Pa and we chose Pa due to a "little" shorter commute. Thanks for the Pa info!
