Mahall,

I think you're a very interesting person. If I'm remembering right, here's a sequence of events:

1) You buy both the G19 and G26 without having test fired them previously (that's ok, not everyone can test fire every gun they buy)
2) You engage in discussions talking about how capacity is such a ruling factor when deciding on a carry gun
3) You say multiple times that you will never buy a used gun
4) You trade your G26 for a Shield, thus losing out on the potential for (I think) 4 rounds in the grip

I'm not being critical. You are just funny. I'm glad you're happy with your choice. I personally like the M&P line more than Glocks. Also, it seems like the Shield is a logical choice for you if you're now concerned about thinness. I wouldn't worry about the safety. You don't have to activate it if you don't want. However, because it IS there, there is the potential for it to be clicked on without your meaning to, which could cause a no-boom when you're expecting a boom. My advice is to get used to swiping it down when you draw from the holster, even if you think its not on.

Congratulations on your gun. Hope you enjoy.

Ok I'm going to defend myself somewhat! I don't buy used guns from strangers or gun stores! Traded for the shield from someone I know very well and trust and have went to range with! So I knew the gun was good. The shield holds 8+1 so lost only 2 in capacity, but the thinner single stack mag was worth it to me! Plus the trigger felt lighter and smoother to me! Which might explain why Smith decided to put an external safety on the gun. And I'm not one to mess with Factory Triggers, for possible legal reasons! But the main reason I traded, it's more comfortable to carry and the lighter Trigger. Or so it seems to me! The G19 is used more for HD so I will likely never part with it! I love the legend for HD and its 15 round Mags! But I do agree with you on the fact that it's a good practice to shoot before buying! Thanks for the input-

Get what ya like. I'm sticking with the 26 because of familiarity and the fact I've got other Glocks I carry. Consistency is nice to me as well as interchangeability of mags. The shield is a good gun though.

I shot both, good buddy I went shooting with a bunch has a g26. I shot several hundred rounds through his before eventually getting my shield. I very much prefer the feel of the shield and like you said, trigger is fantastic. He is a much bigger guy and conceals a lot easier, the shield is about perfect for my body. I can't imagine trying to hide anything thicker.

Oh and I carry with the smaller mag, I shoot better with it than the extended!

I agree with all points! I am going to get a holster that will hold the extra mag! Now do you carry with safety on or off??

I carry with safety on, one in the the chamber, full mag. I don't carry the other mag on me, I know some people disagree but I cannot for see an incident in which I would need more than 8 rounds concealed. Personal defense, not a going into combat weapon.

Good trade!! I think you will be impressed with how well the Shield shoots. Has to be one of the best compacts I've ever owned.
