Do the docs think the brain damage will be permanent? I pray he makes a full and miraculous recovery.

The doctors don't know the full extant of the damage caused to his brain, as well as to his kidneys and liver. He's still in very critical condition. Despite the brain damage, he's able to move his head a bit, and seems responsive to peoples voices. They've done what surgery they can, now we just wait, and pray that he recovers and that no infections set in to complicate things.

Don't give up hope. My cousin had one side of his head caved in by a robber a couple of years ago, and his brain has compensated somehow. He is basically OK mentally now, but he does have a little trouble talking sometimes. IIRC, they said the brain can kinda reroute stuff to compensate for damage or something like that.

Here's a link to an article from my local newspaper:

Police believe 7 armed robberies connected | courier-journal.com | The Courier-Journal

I'm curious as to why police would tell reporters why the wounds weren't life threatening.

He's still in ICU. He's stabilized, no infections, but still not able to talk. For now, we wait, and pray that no infections set in and that he recovers the use of his brain, limbs, speech, etc.

Thanks for asking...

What a lousy time of year for this to happen. I hope his family can get together with him & that this doesn't forever ruin Christmas for them all.

Tragedies like this are my motivation for becoming a police officer. These POS's belong 6 feet under. My prayers are with you and your friend.

Default Friend

Move! If you have to stay there carry a pistol at all times and practice a lot. I would also suggest a firearm self defense course . Ken
