Bought an elite survival iwb for 25$. So excited about the price I didn't research at all. Was this a good idea or am I gonna end up hating it? Also will wearing an undershirt help keep the gun from tearing up my sides?

Its not going to be a holster to get exceted about. Kinda like the uncle mikes padded holster that sells in the same price range. Most of us end up with a quality leather , leather /kydex or kydex holster that is made to fit a handgun more so than a group of like sized handguns. But we all have had atleast one like the elit or mikes. It will give you some idea of were on your body you will cc and then start to refine a brand and type.
