Going to get a lot of flack over this. Have you looked at the Taurus PT709 slim in 9mm?

I have one and carry it every day. Have put untold rounds though it, with at most 5 or 6 failures, and they were because I let it get too dirty before cleaning. Never failed when clean.

I am gonna second the CZ Rami. If it's anywhere as reliable and accurate as my p 01 it's a good choice. It's also available in .40

beings you already have one pistol that is a 1911, check out the compact 1911's in 45acp or 9mm. smaller, more compact than the full size and if you went with the 45, very good knock down power.
