It is my opinion that the ability under the law to conceal a weapon is not a right, open carry is.

Concealment of weapons is historically the province of the assassin or other criminal. A person who concealed a weapon was up to no good, a cheat, or worse in the minds of the law and society. The honest, upright citizen would not hide his armament.

When did this change and why? I'm not sure.

I open carry all the time. I have nothing to hide. I'm not embarrassed or ashamed. I am quite professional and don't care if you (or anyone else) are offended. I have a right to self defence. There is no right to not be offended.

The more I hear the anti-OC arguments of trying to impress, acting big and bad, ad nauseum, the more I want to ask in return, "Why are you acting like a criminal?"

I open carry sometimes, but mostly when hunting. NC is an open carry state, but you always stand the chance to be arrested for "armed to the terror of the people", if you go certian places.

I prefer concealed carry and I'm licensed to do so in Texas. Even if open carry passes here, I won't open carry. I am of the opinion that: "what people DON'T see, WON'T alarm them".

while I agree that CCW is the way to go (see my previous post) we hit the slippery slope if we poo poo a man's right to carry open. Ever hear of Jim Zumbo? Remember the caca storm when he said how he didnt know why anyone "needs" an Ak blah blah blah. This is the arrogant, elitist "good for me, not for you" BS. When I was growing up we had guns in racks in the high school parking lot. No problems ever. Somehow we have shrank to embarrassment, apologetic for having guns. Again, I think tactically the concealed is the only way to go.
