Do you...

So, as I'm starting to get ready to get my CCW I've been looking at holsters and have taken a look at how I dress too.

For example I rarely wear belts, but I know I'll need a good gun belt especially since I plan to make my normal carry a 1911.

So it got me thinking, how many of you have what you wear dictated to you by what you carry or do you let what you wear dictate what you carry?

For me, it's neither most of the time. If I am going to carry on my belt, which I wear every day, then I will usually alter my clothing by adding a light jacket or windbreaker. However a lot of the time that I am "carrying" I do so in my backpack in a hidden compartment.

The main reason is interaction in normal daily activities. Going to a restaurant for example. Who eats their entire meal with their coat on? If you take your coat off, then you have to look all silly with it bunched up on your side, and then if you have to use the restroom, you have to put your coat back on. Or, you get up and show everyone you are packing, which does no good for the whole reason you are carrying CONCEALED in the first place.

If it's 70 or 80 degrees around these parts, the PNW, everyone gets all shorts crazy and tank top happy. If I go wandering around with a long flannel shirt untucked and hanging over my belt, it's going to throw up redflags to anyone who is curious or "in the know". With the backpack, no one even looks twice.

For a gun belt though I highly recommend Milt Sparks. When I got his belt it made a WORLD of difference in how the weight of my 1911 was distributed and took some of the ache away from my right side. Definitely worth the price and wait to get a custom belt of this quality.

Personally, I've found that my crossbreed supertuck allows me to carry a 1911 in anything I would normally wear. Lately it's been in the 90s here so I'm wearing shorts and a t shirt....not a problem and no one is the wiser. I don't were any less clothing then that so for me it's not really an issue.
The right belt and holster make all the difference.

You can wear a shoulder holster when on the beach in Speedos,

But you can't wear a belt with Speedos. (No loops)

A real man like myself can hide a 1911 in a speedo.

Clothing decides the gun. Remember, you want to look normal when you CC.
If you let the gun decide the clothing, you might end up looking suspicious.

Both

Whenever possible, I wear clothing that will conceal the gun I choose to carry (Glock 19 or Taurus 709). But there are times that only certain clothes will do, so I must adjust what I'm carrying to fit what I can conceal. (My new Crossover or the Smart Carry or maybe my KelTec P3AT in a pocket...)

Whatever the case, something goes with me--so long as it is legal.
