New Mexico: $100 to the state, $75 for renewal: good for 4 years.
The cost for the Instructor ranges anywhere from $95 to $125....
Problem areas: It takes forever to receive your license.....
Sorry, I missed the early NM post...

Here in Indiana I renewed my personal protection permit a year ago for under $30 bucks for 4 years. In July the state started offering lifetime permits for around $125.00 but the local ceo says I have to wait for my permit to expire in 3 years before he will let me do the paperwork to upgrade. Me thinks he just don't want to do it. There is no reqiured class to take. On the good side it imake the permit easier and quicker to get. Does not give the anti gunners an arguement to say the classes are costing the state to much so lets just do away with the permits altogether. Bad side is that some guys get permits that could problably use some training and gives states like Ohio a reason not honor Indiana permits because we don't have a similar permit process that requires a class and or re-class every few years.

I got mine here in Ohio back in Nov.07. I had to take a 12hr class that costs around $100 then take the paper work to county Sheriff's office they do a background chek and fingerprint and pic it costs $55. You can also take your paperwork to an ajoining county which is what I did and had mine back within 4 days!!! The class is required in the state of Ohio and I personally think it's a good thing. We had a couple guys failed and it was good because they had no business carryin if you know what I mean. It's a 5 year permit and your class is good for 6 years. So if you don't do anything wrong you're good with 1 renewal for 10 years.

Arizona has a lot of different prices. Depends on who gives the test and to what length they go into all the gray areas. They are 8 hrs. and the cost of mine was 139.00 for the course,10.00 for the finger print and 60.00 for the paper work and background check. Had a 2 great instructors for the course. Got my card in 5 days!!!

Friend had his through another one and paid 65.oo and 60.00 for the process. Depends on who you go to.

When I first got my permit here in Michigan, it was $75.00 for the class, and $115.00 for the permit including all the background checks, for 3 years.

When I renewed it in 2006, it was $105.00 to the state, for everything, and no classes required to renew, for 5 years.
