Where the heck do you live? I'd consider moving if I have to watch my kids play in the yard while I'm scanning for criminals and I have a need to place extra magazines at key areas of my property for tactical reloading then its time to go. |

I don't have to scan for criminals and place extra magazines around the property. I live in a very quite suburban neighborhood. But that doesn't mean I don't carry at all times, inside and out. How many times have you seen a report of a violent crime on TV and seen one of the neighbors say "I never expected that to happen here" |

Having the best of all 4 seasons here, I picked my carry gun(s) by what I wear daily. I carry a Glock 22 every day at work under a square cut shirt. I can also carry the same gun in the summer under a dress shirt, I also have a sub-compact 1911 that I can carry anywhere except the shower.
Try to figure out how you want to carry, IWB or OWB, pocket, ankle holster, then the gun choice should be easier. A good quality holster and good belt will help conceal and secure your gun for IWB, OWB, and even pocket carry. __________________ Don't question my right to own a gun and I won't question your stupidity not to. |

To have a concealed gun in hot weather doesn't mean you have to carry a Raven .25 or .22. You can carry a fairly big piece under loose-fitting shirt worn with the shirttail outside the pants. One of the things that causes a gun to "print", or have its outline show, is the length of the grip i.e., the height of the gun. There are some fairly big guns out there that have double-stacked magazines, and can carry plenty of ammo, and have good barrel lengths. Examples: an EAA Witness Compact, 9mm or .40 S&W has a 3.9" barrel, is 7.3" overall length, but is only 4.5" high, and has 12+1 capacity. Also Taurus PT-940s in .40 S&W or PT-911s in 9mm have a 3.875" barrel and are 5.0" high and 7.0" long, with 10+1 capacity. And a Para-Ordnance Carry 12 is a .45 ACP that is 7" long and 4.5" high, with 10+1 capacity. They are pretty easy to keep covered. A short barrel won't help as much as some people think. It is the big grip that pokes out and makes an obvious bulge in the shirt. On the other hand, there are some 1911 clones out there with short (3") barrels, but are still 5.75" high, so the short barrel does little to help in concealment. A short barrel is handy in a congested environment where there is little room to manouver, but not the only consideration for concealment. Last edited by AIKIJUTSU; 01-25-2012 at 06:00 PM. |

Only problem I foresee is getting one I have a feeling they are going to sell faster then Sig can make them.

A good holster and belt a loose fitting shirt that you can leave unbuttoned and you can conceal a normal sized gun. I like to leave the shirt unbuttoned because it's a lot easier to access your weapon that way and it is cooler.
How did we get conditioned to this small gun mentality? Everything in this country is all about bigger is better, more is better, more power, more, more, more. But then when it comes to defending your life somebody says here is this little gun with a low powered round isn't it great.
Not trying to piss anyone off but it does seem to fly in the face of logic. Please don't try to argue for the tiny guns with the old "it's better than nothing". That doesn't wash I mean if that was the case let's issue LCP's to the police and when they say WTF we can tell them "Hey it's better than nothing". Better than nothing only works if you don't have a choice in the matter.
Again I'm not flaming anyone. For me it's just a more logical way to look at it.

I have carried a full size 1911 and a Beretta 92. Get a good IWB holster like a Crossbreed or M-Tac and just leave your tee shirt untucked. If you need to tuck a dress shirt the Super Tuck will hide it just fine. If you wearing a Speedo no gun will hide well.
In the summer when I am mowing the lawn I just put my AR in the rack mounted on my John Deere garden tractor. __________________ “There are hundreds of millions of gun owners in this country, and not one of them will have an accident today. I just had a concealed carry (in waist band) holster fabricated for me here locally for my FNP40. I took it home and experimented with several t shirts. I found that even this larger gun that it is well concealed. |

I know you said you didn't like revolvers, but my choice for summer carry is an S&W Bodyguard .38 snubbie. My M&P Compact 9 was too bulky for summer carry. The Smith in a pocket holster slides ride into a cargo pocket, is accessible, doesn't print or constantly try to pull my shorts down and the .38spl+p is an adequate self defense round, better IMHO than a .32 or .380. __________________ Never argue with an idiot in public.
