He does have a point.

Cars don't start themselves or drive themselves (unless you have KITT)...

Same thing with guns.

Being in possession of something, no matter your level of intoxication (or lack of) does not mean that you are operating said item.

Let's take a look at cops, shall we? Many carry even off duty. Quite a few go out for drinks after their shift ends (while carrying). What makes them an exception? Have you ever been talking to a detective that had Scotch (or some other alcohol) on his/her breath? I have, and they were carrying. Does the fact they are cops make them immune?

(no cop bashing, just maiking a point)

This is the only issue I have... "paid their debt"

I, for some reason, cannot fathom some scumbag getting to plea to a lesser charge and getting a lesser sentence for murder (specifically murder, not manslaughter).

If you kill someone during a criminal act (or cause their death during a criminal act), plan to kill someone, or kill someone with depraved indifference - you should not get to plea to a lesser charge. And anything less than forfeiting your freedom for the rest of your life is not - IMO - "paying your debt".

However, if the act is not violent in any way (blackmail, non destructive vadalism - like spray painting stuff, shoplifting, just to name a few) then I have no problem restorign ALL rights. But, should any 1 specific right be denied because of a criminal record - then ALL rights should be denied.

Supporting OC for the blind, but not CC makes as much sense as a screen door on a sub.

A blind person is more apt to have a better grasp on when to not shoot than a sighted person.

Let me guess, you don't have much contact with blind people, do you?

I don't think you have the mental capacity to carry and use guns. That is the most ridiculous statement I've ever seen..
Excuse me but I'm going to go to the school for the blind and give away my guns..

No federal statute prohibits firearm possession while intoxicated but many state laws exist. It is even printed on some permits. More "for our own good, common sense gun control."

Some states such as Virginia do not require you to shoot an actual firearm to be issued a CCP. It does require you to take some type of CCP course or have demonstrated in the past some type of weapons training such as prior military service. So I guess in Virginia a blind person can be issued a CCP and never demonstrate any type of proficiency at all.

The next time you advocates of this absurd idea are at your local gun-range put on a blindfold and start fiddling and loading your gun!
I would love to hear the dialog between you and the range-master, " No Sir don't be ridiculous I don't need to be able to see to shoot a hand gun!"
Did you ever wonder why the two little projections on the top of your hand gun are called sights?

Why is vision necessary when the gun has sights?
