In 2010 in Indiana it took me 2 weeks. Went to the sheriffs office and payed got it the mail. My friend who applied for his a month ago had to go to an alternate location to get printed and is still waiting. Another associate said it took him over the 12 week waiting period, almost 4 months for him. They are backed up with with gun control bruhaha.

I'm not from Michigan, but their official site says "2 to 3 months" Unfortunately they say some will take longer than others, but they don't post a mazimum time on their site. They also have the right to hold a hearing if they want....so you are at their mercy with this. Many states have a "maximum" amount of days, such as Missouri, where it's 45 days....and I'm in day 10 for mine....so I wait...and wait...and wait....

Default Michigan

I applied 2/25 and just got it on 4/18. In Michigan a lot of it will depend on which county you live and apply in. Some counties are backed up much more than others and some have boards that you must appear in front of - some don't. Also, if you're looking at a set number of days it may not be the most realistic approach. Most counties have specific times when their gun boards meet and if you apply, for example, the day after they meet, and your friend had applied a few days before the meeting, your friend might get their license a full month ahead of you even if you applied only a few days apart.

No matter what anyone tells you, in Michigan there is no set time.

What county are you in? A lot is going to depend on the county.

I frequent another forum that is strictly Michigan so I did some browsing to find out times for Livingston County. Odd, there are hundreds of posts but could only find two from Livingston. One from January (applied on 1/4 received on 1/28) and one more recently (applied on 2/19 and received on 4/2).

I would contact the county and find out when and how often the board meets and go from there.

Good luck and keep us posted.

I bought and carried for 2 years before getting a permit. Open carry is legal here.
