Why would it if it's a misdemeanor?

+1

When the poll tax is brought back I'll be happy about paying my CCW tax.

this is what I think. if you have ever bought a gun legally, i think they know or can find out if they need to.

I'm still confused. I thought the only misdemeanor that gives a no go is DV. I've never heard of other misdemeanors causing a no go for NICS.

In nebraska, violation of a gun law of this type would preclude you from getting a CHP for ten years.

I do agree that it is but I finally came to the conclusion they know who we are anyway and got mine. Like you I use to carry without one( firm believer 2 A is your carry permit) but in this day and age your probably going to be up the creek if you get caught.

They can put any label on the form they want but the contents is more than enough to consider it as "Registration". I don't know what else they could ask for. It would be a joke to think of it as anything else.

Va purchase form. Last line indicates a copy of the form and fee payment will be forwarded to the State Police.

It might be interesting to consider something like this:
"Dear BG's. Please come forth and register all your guns. In return your slate will be wiped clean and any and all criminal charges will be expunged from your record".

I considered all this before I got my license and am still pretty much convinced you're right but I went ahead and got it for a couple of reasons. For one, I had a concealed carry permit in Georgia back in the 1980s when I had to carry every day on my job. I figure I've been on "the list" ever since, even though I let my permit expire when I moved out of the state. Secondly, in Ohio where I live now you are not allowed to carry in a vessel and you are not allowed to carry during archery only season unless you have a concealed carry permit. Since I fish and bowhunt a lot I figured I better get the permit. I don't remember the last time I had any contact with law enforcement on the street but I have contact with the game warden on a regular basis. So far the question of firearms in the boat hasn't come up but it's only a matter of time, especially now that I also have a state permit to use the state owned rifle range. Ohio has some very nice shooting ranges and the permit is only $24 a year. It's right there on my hunting and fishing license so as soon as I hand that to the game warden he's going to pretty much assume I'm a gun owner.
