I carry everywhere I go, on and off duty. On duty I obviously carry hot, with 2 hot BUGs.

Off duty, I carry hot with one hot BUG on my ankle or in my pocket.

You've just gotta be completely comfortable with your weapon and yourself. I received a lot of training in the military, and more when I became a cop, but I also attended 3 courses by Precision Tactical. It did me a lot of good!

Good luck!

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Wow, that sounds... ...uncomfortable.

If I feel the need for a second gun,

I'd rather carry a rifle, and

let my CCW be my BUG...

Get the permit. It doesn't require you to carry, it just makes it legal to carry. Old quote: "It is better to have a gun and not need it than to need a gun and not have it." The need is not always going to be obvious beforehand. I've had a permit since 1968 when they were first required/issued. Having a gun on my person has saved my bacon 7 times in those 44 years. You may carry for a decade and never be forced to defend yourself, or you may need to do so tomorrow. Also, there is no requirement to start out with a .22 caliber gun. Go to a range and try several different calibers and types, then choose the one you feel most comfortable and confident with.

AIKIJUTSU is right, it's kind of like getting a passport.

You don't want to wait till right before you travel, but

get it well beforehand.

Most permits are valid 5 to 10 years, also. So they have

a long usage duration, much like a passport.

For what it's worth, I just looked at the first few posts on this thread. It was dead from July 2011 until May 26 this year. Surely the OP has made the decision by now.

Why not? Im sure those people at the lunchen in TX thought they were safe until the madman on a killing spree walked in and off'd about 25 or so folks. Then .....not so much.

Like another poster said. Just cause you HAVE a CWP doesn't mean you are OBLIGATED to carry . Although you should cause what's the point in having it?

The way the insane laws on gun carry are cranked out, it seems that the only places where we are allowed to carry are the places where the gun is least likely to be needed.

read by millions.
