Federal hydra-shock mostly, but I have used Speer Gold Dot and Hornady before and would trust both brands.

Hornady critical defense(.40)

Not that the following is conclusive, but better then just guessing:

Again, it's not conclusive, but it's nice to have some data to go off of.

Mine is currently loaded with Hornady Critical Defense 115GR FTX. However, today I found this interesting article.

Pistol Cartridges (9x19mm Luger)

I too carry Talons. In my 9mm I still have a ton of Black Talons from my LEO days before retirement. I bought up several boxes as soon as I heard they weren't going to produce them anymore. If you can find them I think it's the best ammo for the 9mm. The black color is from the Lubalox coating and not Teflon armor piercing coating as urban myths would have you believe. Lubalox protects your barrel and reduces the loss of energy created by conventional uncoated rounds dragging on barrel rifling.

In my .40 and .45 I use the newer Ranger T series LEO only. They are very similar to the old Black Talons but to call them same exact thing is not actually correct. The angels and cavity size were changed to maintain better expansion. Fall back is the loss of the Lubalox coating.

In my 380, FMJ. That little round needs as much help getting penetration as possible but I carry it because I would rather have something than nothing.

45 ACP 230gr +p Federal HST

In my last test with them I had a number exceed 1" in diameter and retain 100% of their weight. Here is a link to some test I did a while back. I can do more if people are interested

In my 38 I use 125gr +p Gold Dots. I have yet to test these so I may have to put that on my list.
