Winchester Ranger T 124gr +p+ and Ranger Bonded +p.

Second choice is Speer Gold Dot or Unicore.

Two that I have seen tested & consistantly perform well, both in penetration & expansion, are Corbon DPX with the Barnes Solid Copper bullet & Federal HST, but it is not made in .380 caliber.

Buffalo Bore has come out with a .380 which also uses the Barnes bullet & it did well also. I have not seen it tested in other calibers or even if it is offered in other calibers.

These tests were done, using a series of gallon jugs filled with water & with 4layers of denim taped to the front jug. When testing in water, divide penetration by 1.5 to get equivalent penetration in gel, as used by the FBI.

I pack a 329 PD so with the .44 mag. I worry about over penatration. For that reason I use perfraged rounds in the first 2 chambers then carry 240 gr. HP`s in the other 4.

I carry Hornady Critical Defense & Speers Gold Dot.
But practice at range mostly with PMC FMJ 45 ACPs.
