Good for you. Do you have a CCW to make it legal?

First how old? Hunting or conceal carry? How much experience in firearms do you have? After you tell us your going to get bombarded with GLOCK, 1911, S & W, Springfield, Colt, Sig, Browning, Kimber, Walther, Wilson, CZ, 9mm, 40 S&W 45acp, 380, 38spl+p 10mm, ect. Now your totally confused. Best thing is to go the the range, try different guns that fits your hand and you shoot well then decide what to get.
“There are hundreds of millions of gun owners in this country, and not one of them will have an accident today. The only misuse of guns comes in environments where there are drugs, alcohol, bad parents, and undisciplined children. Period.” Ted Nugent

Like 007 says, find a range that lets you rent guns and try them out. There is no "best". Everyone has their favorites, but almost any of the major brand name guns are good, reliable guns. But a gun that will work well for one person, won't suit another. The best gun, for anyone, is the one that works best for them. And you can only find that my trying them. Also, the workers at most ranges are happy to help explain the differences in the guns, and help you select what's best for you.
