I'm also "average" at 5'9" 160, and I carry a 4" 1911 a lot of the time. I wear a SuperTuck with jeans and either a loose casual shirt or a scrub style shirt. Now if they would only make a SuperTuck for my S&W Mod 66 I would be a happy man.

Carry a Smith Bodyguard in a pocket holster during the summer. Fits comfortably in a front or cargo pocket. Easy access and no one knows unless I tell them.
Never argue with an idiot in public. People passing by won't know which one of you is the idiot.

I really don't 'GUN' is the first thing the general public thinks of when they see a man with a fanny pack. They may think; PDA, iPhone, wallet, energy bar/drink, keys, whatever. I believe the only people who whould think a fanny pack has a gun in it, are other people who carry or otherwise use guns. I also think it would be a target for a thief, just like a purse. I don't carry but if I did, it would be IWB.

I would advise against it, as
I would advise against carrying in a purse, you must have absolute control over your weapon at all times. If you are.t in control of it and an unauthorized person does something with it you may face legal consequences. And as others have stated a fanny pack is high on the list for a thief. Use a propper fitting holster. Iwb, owb, or shoulder. Pocket holster maybe, if the gun is small enough
