Alternating Ammo FMJ and JHP.
Do this with my .380 ONLY. First shot Winchester PDX1 next Rem UMC and so on. Both 95grain.
I would not recommend this with higher calibers do to over penetration but with a .380 I believe it's a good idea.
Thoughts?

I would recommend fmj in anything smaller than 9mm. I alternate in 9mm hoping the first 7 hollows will get the job done. All hollows in the .45

I run all the same type.
If alternating, what happens when you flub one and get the targets/ammo out of sequence?
Really, this stuff is getting rather silly.

Why is it silly? If I have to fire more than 3 shots do you honestly think I'm gonna give a sh#t if I goin the fourth and have to follow it with fmj? The fact is I should never have to shoot more than 3

I have seen successful tests for expansion & penetration on three brands of .380 ammo, PDX1 being one of them, & feel confident that they will get the job done, so no need to alternate. If I lived in an exceptionally cold climate where the bad guy would be wearing multiple layers of heavy clothing, I'd consider switching to FMJ during the winter months. The tests I've seen included 4 layers of denim as a barrier, so I don't believe normal clothing will be an issue.

Educated decision. Can't argue. I'm in an area where it gets cold and layered clothing including leather is an issue.

I like critical defense, 185 grain polymer filled hollow points running 1100fps I believe.

I want ammo that works well across all situations, not ammo that might excel at one and perform less than well in another. Mixing ammo means you're stacking the variables to where it might hinder performance substantially.
BTW, badguys can come in multiples and use cover.

That's what I use as well. And now Hornady has Critical Duty which has even better penetration.
