However, some states don't allow you to conceal carry into the "Bar Area" of a restaurant. For some places like Chili's, Applebees, or other restaurants like that the bar area is in the middle of the establishment and usually directly in front of the restroom. So the law already sets you up to fail there.

At least from what I have read, Texas does not have that sort of stipulation.

Lastly, remember, I am not a lawyer. Please read the laws for yourself, as I have done, and consult a real lawyer for any legal questions. (Just a disclaimer)

Therefore, liquor stores are legal to carry into. Oklahoma has almost the exact same wording in their laws. When I was living there I carried into the liquor store all the time and the owner knew it. We talked guns all the time, he let me know (and see) his under counter anti-bad-guy tool, and heck, I even bought a case of beer once with a box of 380's.

As far as the 30.06 signs at establishments that are not federally listed or derive 51% of their business from alcohol.... NEVER EVER SEEN ONE!!! Of course living in Austin I don't doubt you have seen them.
so far, IKEA is the only 30.06 sign i have noticed in austin so far. i live a bit outside of austin, but go there frequently for shopping, etc.

I don't drink, or go to bars. On the other hand, I do feel bad for those of you who do. When your state prevents from CCW in bars or restaurants that derive 51% of their business from alcohol consumption on premises.
Here in PA, we have no bar/restaurant carry restrictions at all. We believe common sense should prevail, and if you are going to drink and carry, then please do so responsibly.
If you are going to get plastered, then leave your gun locked up in your trunk, or leave it at home, since you shouldn't be driving drunk either..lol YMMV

As always, stay safe.

I did not mean to be disparaging to anyone who drinks. I used to drink occasionally, but no longer do. (Except for religious holidays.) I do frequent restaurants such as TGI Fridays, but just don't care to drink. What I meant was I feel sorry for those who do drink, and can't CCW while doing so, due to your states laws.
I believe when you carry, you need to be responsible enough, to not drink to excess.
YMMV

As always, stay safe.

I wouldn't mind at all, except that your great state of TX is a wee bit far for me to drive to...lol
If I lived in your area, I wouldn't mind being your designated driver. I can have a good time sipping plain ginger ale.

As always, stay safe.

we're just messing with you a bit!

imo, no people shouldn't drink and carry....it just leaves that "?" if something goes down...whether you are truly impaired or not, i believe it would be used against you.

but, you should be able to go into bars and not drink while carrying imo. as said, a designated is a great thing....an armed designated sounds even better.

I rarely imbibe anymore, (Ask Vikingdad, I had 1 drink the Entire Week of SHOT), so if I really want to have a drink I have plenty here at home..."Mostly for company".......
