The fact that the perp was suspected of shooting a deputy in IA really helped the homeowners case. If he had only shot a civilian the homeowners vigilance might have been seen in a different light. The fact that civilians shot him cuts down on paperwork and a working officer doesn't have to go on administrative leave.

Wonder if the perps family will be filing lawsuits against the couple for killing their beloved family member.

If it was me, Id be suing his family for everthing he done.
