Default Detroiters defending themselve more and more

Detroiters are using firearms for home defense more often now. Maybe the advice from the Chief of Police was taken seriously.

Default Fatal self-defense shootings on rise in Detroit

“People have to protect themselves,” West said. “These criminals have no business breaking into people’s houses in the first place. Don’t take what’s not yours, and everything will be OK. If someone’s coming in your house, you don’t have time to call the cops; you’ll end up laying there dead. You got to do what you got to do.”
Righteous self defense shootings are a wonderful thing.

The amazing thing the media does not cue in to is you drop one goblin and crime drops disproportionately. One criminal can commit 10 crimes a day. Put down the right one and over 30,000 crimes are prevented.

Texas noticed this a few years back. They built enough prisons to keep the hard corp criminals locked up for more time. Crime went down. Locked up they cannot commit crimes

I have to wonder if maybe a discount range opened up in Detroit to help improve citizen aim.

Cannot commit many crimes against most people. We can't discount inmate innovations and ingenuity. But seriously, of the few people I know who have done enough time in county or at the "state farm" to have been considered a real inmate, most agree the drugs on the inside are more limited and expensive but of exceptional quality, probably due to limitations on transport quantities, only so much room in the trunk so-to-speak.

It's good (also unusual) to have a chief of police who agrees that citizens have a right to defend themselves. So many high-ranking police administrators think people should be willing victims.
Give this guy an A+.

The number of self defense has not necessarily gone up, but the media reporting of it has sky rocketed. To that, I owe to the Chief putting it out to the media.

Is criminal on criminal crime tracked? I would think that a fair portion of murder, assault and such is done by criminals on criminals. Perhaps if that stat was tracked then the overall crime statistics would look better. A lot of the crime we hear about locally in and around Tucson is drug related in some way or manner.

Interesting article. I wonder what the difference is between Detroit and say, NYC or Chicago? (Other than a Police Chief who smells air instead of crap when he breathes...) Good for him, they should give him a raise.

Does anyone think Detroit will ever recover?...
