Same collector bought both pieces, which was a surprise. $240k plus for a used 1911a1?

I am actually surprised they did not sell for more, I bet they would have got a couple hundred thousand more before the economy went belly up. I am not, nor will I ever be, in a position to own such firearms, but it is fun to dream and think about the history of those guns.

Funny thing is they never stole that much in their short lives.

And what they stole, they gave away. For the most part anyway.

The price of history is not cheap.

Don't get me wrong, if I had the cash and John Dillinger's famous wooden pistol, or his customized 1911 came up for sale, I would buy it in a heartbeat. But there is kind of a tie there for me.

If the guy who bought both pieces is a big collector, I can see it.

On the surface though, it's $240K for a used M1911a1 that is used... LOL
