I am actually surprised they did not sell for more, I bet they would have got a couple hundred thousand more before the economy went belly up. I am not, nor will I ever be, in a position to own such firearms, but it is fun to dream and think about the history of those guns.

Don't get me wrong, if I had the cash and John Dillinger's famous wooden pistol, or his customized 1911 came up for sale, I would buy it in a heartbeat. But there is kind of a tie there for me. :o

If the guy who bought both pieces is a big collector, I can see it.

On the surface though, it's $240K for a used M1911a1 that is used... LOL
