Quiksilver( not 100% sure on the spelling atm) marine carb cleaner, its what I always start out with when cleaning. Its a foaming carbon cutter found at Marine outboard engine shops. No need in running 4 or 5 patches worth of expensive carbon/copper cutting solvents thru your gun when this will get all the black crud out easily and will allow your other solvents to work on the real problem, copper.

I used to use Hoppes Elite and switched to Gunzilla. It works very well and no smell that makes the wife complain. It is similar to Froglube (plant based CLP) but not available in paste.
I have a mix of plastic dental like tools, brass brushes, jags, and bore snakes.

Can you folks give me your recommendation for a good gun grease?
I don't use grease on any of my handguns, so I don't have or use any.
I just bought my first hunting rifle in over 30 years though(Savage 30-06)and I have heard it is a good idea to have some grease on the bolt of a hunting rifle.
Thx

There was just a thread about this. Some would say it grease is grease. I use mil-comm tw25b, best stuff I have used.

For general cleaning, Ed's Red Synthetic, and for high wear areas, Mobil 1

I have an Otis field cleaning kit, and the Elite. I have used alot of cleaning products, but Ballistol is my favorite cleaner. It lubes, cleans and protects. It cleans up black powder residue very GOOD. It also removes lead from pistol barrels and shotgun barrels. I've been cleaning firearms for 25 years, and Ballistol is my favorite. I also have a sonic cleaner, and when I re-assemble a gun I use Ballistol to complete the job. Try some and you will agree. I also use breakfree too, with good results.
