What is the best way to get cosmoline out/off a gun?
Diesel in a steel trash can followed by a brush down the bore and a rag everywhere else. Only METAL parts should get diesel treatment. What gun are you doing it on?
Portable steam cleaner like the "Shark" works pretty good. Also putting them in a black trash bag, and laying it out in the Texas summer sun works pretty good as well.
I get good results from WD40. It might take a couple applications but it gets the job done without stripping the finish.
